Why Learn to Scuba Dive?
| SCUBA diving offers a multitude of benefits to its participants.
You can dive all over the world, in all types of climate and in all temperatures
of water. As a result you can dive in some very exotic places, which tend
to provide the most stunning underwater scenery that you could possibly
hope to imagine. With the appropriate training you will be able to visit
ship wrecks that most people only get to se on Discovery Chanel. Diving
helps to keep you fit and healthy, although of course you do need to be
in a relatively good state of health and relatively fit in order to scubadive.
Scuba diving will bring you into contact with people from all walks of life
from all over the world. Dive training teaches you that you should never
dive on your own as you never know when you might need a helping hand. Diving
then is a recreational "team" sport, and so is a great way to meet people
and get to know them really well in a relatively short period of time. You
do not have to be a strong swimmer to become a SCUBA diver, however you
should be able to swim to some degree. For the PADI Open Water course you
must demonstrate that you can swim 8 lengths and tread water for 10 minutes.
Most recreational dive training courses are open to people from the age
of 15 through to seniors (assuming they are fit and healthy). Diving is
also open to both sexes, offering no performance advantages to either its
male or female participants. Also as diving is not a competitive sport,
there is nothing to win or lose making it a much more enjoyable shared experience
for everyone.
The most widely recognized diving qualifications are awarded by the
PADI organization (PADI stands for the Professional Association of Diving
Instructors). Most dive comapnies the world over will accept PADI accreditation
as proof of your ability to dive and most of them will also be able to
put you into contact with a PADI approved training center if you want
to learn how to dive or you wish to upgrade your existing qualification
and/or level of ability.

| Most training is done at PADI Dive Centres where professional instructors
take you through the diving theory and the practical pool sessions before
venturing out into open water dive sites. The Open Water course is the entry
level course offered by PADI and consists of 5 classroom sessions, 5 pool
sessions and 4 open water dives. It is a modular course and is taught in
the same same across the globe. This means that you can complete part of
your course at one Dive centre and then be referred to a second dive centre
to complete the course. This is know as an Open Water referral and is a
very popular option which allows you to get all the classroom and pool modules
completed in the UK before going on holiday and then completing the open
water dives at your holiday destination. This may appeal to people with
busy schedules or difficult shift patterns. We offer a range of very flexible
training options intended to fit in with the busiest of life styles. We
offer an intensive two weekend courses each month or a slower paced evening
session based course which is taught continuously through the year. Somewher
along the way you should be able to fit it in. We also provide an executive
one to one course at an additional cost. |
